Gay Marriages. Do you encourage them?

i'm at my aunt's plcae for the summer and her new husband is a high school teacher. he said the main reason to discourage gay mariage is because it causes aids. I think his reason is stupid. what do you think?

Well, I don't support them, because I really just don't want to see them around me, but that's my only reason to be negative about them.

I think that is the most ignorant reason ever. It is not like gay/lesbians are the only people who get aids. You are right in thinking his reasoning is stupid. Honestly there is no good reason to discourage gay marriage. Do a little bit a research..(if you have not done this already...) but normally the people who have a big issue with homosexuality in general, are religious fundamentalists.

What do I mean by that?

People who automatically think they are so much better than everybody else, just because they are part of one religion. (christians are especially terrible with this, not all, but most.) They think that anything that even almost goes against their religion, is evil, and you will burn in hell for it, and they feel inclined to tell everybody this, and rub it in their face till they either, change their behavior, or punch the dumbass in the face.

Those are normally people who have major issues with homosexuals...either that, or they are just freaking stupid.

i read about homos. it's actually genetics so i think people should be open about it. talk about humans rights!

His reason is retarded... But I don't really support them either. I'm not against them, but I'm not a huge fan of gays... I'm not against them if they're quiet about it, but if they're super open in public I'm not a fan. However I do believe that there is no reason gay marriages shouldn't be allowed. Marriage is up to the government, not religion. If a government doesn't allowed gay/lesbian couples to get married, then they are denying citizens rights

no, im patrial religous and the main reason "fake gays" want marriage in my opinon is to break with relgious rules i belive if ur actually gay or if u no a real gay person its not gonna be as big of a deal aslong as u find somone to love <3

Guess what? The government isn't the pope, religion should have nothing to do with what the government decides. If they don't get gays get married they are DENYING CITIZENS THEIR RIGHTS

But the major thing is, actually... it is about human rights, about EQUAL RIGHTS. There is no valid reason for gays, not to be able to get married. There just isnt. The only reasons people come up with, are either religion related, or their own bigotry infected minds being stupid.

By the way, it also shouldn't matter if they are faking it or no.

Also I know we don't follow this anymore in the states, actually I believe we never have but

SEPPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. As in, religious rules, that try to push Gays/Lesbians away... Church should have NO influence on laws. The government has absolutely NO right to tell you, who you can marry, and who you cannot.

One last thing, if I was legitametly gay, and I found that one special guy for me...I would be insulted, if I were not allowed to marry him. Just because, we can't mate properly, does not mean we should not be able to wed.

Do I encourage it? No.
Do I dislike it enough to want it abolished? No.

It's a trippy topic I don't like to cross into. I have no true opinion, but I do believe that it's strange. That's the most I'll be able to truthfully say on the matter.

I recently read about this actually. There was a recent research that successfully proved that the existence of homosexuals are due to genetics. Many think that it's a trend to follow and such but it isn't. Gay couples have raised their adopted kids and they turned out straight. Well religion do stand in the way, but it is human's rights - according to ECH article 8 and 10. lol And they shouldn't be discriminated because it's what that is normal to them. And your aunt's husband saying it should be discourage because of Aids is the stupidest reason ever. Stating that is like saying, human should be exterminated because they are the cause of so many types of crimes and other immoral stuffs in the world.
The point is, I'd support them, but not necessarily encourage them.
